What Do I Teach

I am a high school math teacher.  I have taught from the eighth grade through the twelfth grade.  Currently, I am teaching the following New York State Regents courses:

Integrated Algebra

Geometry

Advanced Algebra and Trigonometry

I am also teaching the following non-regents classes:

Consumer Math

College Preparation

The students who are in my class attend the Department of Instructional Programs and Alternative Schools (IPAS) offered by the Nassau Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES).  Nassau BOCES is a partnership of the county's school districts and is dedicated to providing the best possible education for learners of all ages and abilities as stated in their mission statement.   Due to the fact that many of my students previously come from a pattern of failure, Nassau BOCES with funding proving by NCLB fortunately has the capability to provide students with a positive high school experience.

In ensuring that all students succeed, Nassau BOCES is able to maintain small size classes as opposed to a conventional high school.  The student who is lost and unfocused often can remain on task when individualized instruction is emphasized. Classroom teachers, myself included, are trained in emphasizing mathematical skill building in our students.  Further training is available for behavior modification and developing motivation deemed as the most important criteria in student success.
